So what does $700,000,000,000 look like
Just had a thought about trying to get my head around the huge sums of cash the US want to spend to bailout the economy and so over my morning coffee armed with a BIGBOY calculator I came up with this. If you placed a $1 note end to end, Each Dollar bill measuring 6.4 inches long it would take 9900 of those dollars for every mile. If you then placed 700,000,000,000, dollars end to end it would span a distance of 70,707, 070.7 miles long that's over SEVENTY MILLION SEVEN HUNDRED thousand miles. That's a money line that could rap around the world 2996 times or if you had traveled into space on Aug. 27 2007, Mars was 34.65 million miles away so the line of dollar bills could have reached Mars and back.
Now that's big cash..
They don't have to actually print those bills. If the Federal Reserve wants, it can simply transfer digital numbers into the accounts of its member banks and call it money injected into the economy.

They should put George W Bush on the dollar bill to honor his legacy of devaluing it."
He would have to die first. Living people's faces can't be printed on U.S. currency. It was made illegal in order to prevent anyone from using our currency as a political ploy.
Hmmpf! I used that exact same image of a dollar bill as the header picture on a blog I happened to be scribbling a couple weeks ago, doggone it! -- Never occurred to me it could ever show up somewhere else and ultimately result in a neat little *story* to talk about, online. Cool. Sure wish I could remember who emailed it to me?...It just showed up in my Inbox one day and that was that. There was nothing around the "bill" to give credit to someone for my using it, but at least I tried (I usually do, as I would want visitors to credit *my* blogpage if they copy anything on my page, ya know?)
I'll bet that version of George's shocked face on the ersatz dollar bill will be all over Cyberspace very soon (and often) now!
Very well done. Just 1 problem - the U.S. Mint does not print the paper money, that job belongs to The Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

That is so funny! If you want to start protecting your remaining GW's, I suggest putting it all into a high yeield savings accounts at institutions like ShoreBank (Chicago), where capital is directed to projects with an environmental/green-sector focus. I work with ShoreBank promoting their High-Yield Savings Account, which offers a 3.5% APY, FDIC-insurance, online/phone tools, etc, just like other banks.

Just for perspective, not that they would ever actually do this but is there even enough raw materials to print 700 billion dollars?
They don't have to actually print those bills. If the Federal Reserve wants, it can simply transfer digital numbers into the accounts of its member banks and call it money injected into the economy.

Bob, Braf and Mark, I'm purposely not going to your sites because of your link spam.
Shoving your link down someone's throat is no way to promote your site. There's a spot for you URL in the form for a reason.
